WAM Museum of Contemporary Art

WAM is a Museum of Contemporary Art next to Aura River in Turku, Finland. Originally completed in 1967, WAM is an iconic modernist landmark and widely regarded as one of Finland’s architectural gems. The exhibition programme brings together international media art, classic sculptures by Wäinö Aaltonen and the renewed WAMx platform, which introduces a new space for experimentation and encounter within the museum.

Beyond exhibitions, WAM offers a vibrant cultural hub: a welcoming museum shop, a cozy café & evening bistro, guided tours, workshops, and events for all audiences.

Culture thrives in Turku. The new cultural hub on the banks of the River Aura offers an exceptional range of art and experiences. Together, the Turku Music Centre Fuuga, WAM Museum of Contemporary Art and Turku City Theatre form a unique cultural destination in Finland. These high-quality venues stand side by side in the vibrant heart of the city. They are part of a broader, continuously evolving riverside cultural waterfront that stretches from Turku’s historic Old Town to the maritime Linnanniemi area.
