Moominworld Finland
– the home of the Moomins
The Moomins, those loveable characters created by Tove Jansson, don't just live in the new Moominvalley TV series. The Moomins live in Finland, where the author and artist Tove Jansson was from.
If you have ever been to Finnish Lapland, you may think Finland is all about snow and the Aurora Borealis. But no, Southern Finland in the summertime is really something else. The weather is typically quite sunny, and the temperature varies from below 20 to over 25 °C. And at these latitudes in the summertime, you get to experience the ‘midnight sun’ – a natural phenomenon as exotic as the darkness in the winter!
Turku and its surroundings have something for the whole family. Start planning your trip now with your loved ones, or just surprise them! Moominworld, located on its own island, will mesmerise you with its natural charm. Just cross the walking bridge from the Old Town of Naantali, and there you are – at what is quite possibly the prettiest theme park in the world.
Experience this enchanting Nordic destination with your loved ones. There’s a moominhug waiting for you!

The Finnish Archipelago
– a natural wonder of 40 000 islands
Moominworld is situated on an island, but there's more. More islands, we mean. The Archipelago Sea between Turku and Åland comprises 40 000 islands and islets altogether. This makes it one of the world’s largest archipelagos.
The locals call it the most beautiful, too. So, while in Turku, do take a ferry from the city centre to the island of Ruissalo, for example. This historical island is known for its oak forests, 19th century wooden villas, and one of the oldest rock festivals in the world, Ruisrock (July 5–7).

The (b)oldest city of Finland
Turku is the oldest city and original capital of Finland, dating back to the 12th century. In the year 2011, by the way, we served as The European Capital of Culture.
Due to our long history, Turku is the cultural treasury of Finland. We have beautiful buildings, long-lived traditions, and great museums ranging from Turku Castle to the modernist Wäinö Aaltonen Museum of Art and the outdoor Luostarinmäki Handicrafts Museum – an actual artisan neighbourhood from the late 1700s.
We also have plenty of things to do with the kids!

The food capital of Finland
Like any proper historical European city, Turku has grown on the banks of a river. Our river is called Aura, and it's the heart and soul of the city. Most of the best cafés and restaurants of Turku are situated along the River Aura. There are also great walking routes – we strongly recommend exploring Turku by foot if possible.
Walking makes you hungry, but that's no problem in Turku. We are known for our flourishing restaurant scene that combines fresh Nordic ingredients (berries, virgin potatoes, fish, rye bread) with innovative cooking and Scandinavian design. Yum!
When you want to taste as many bites of Turku as possible, buy a Food Walk card from Visit Turku. For only €44, with the card you are treated to a special tasting portion at five different restaurants.
